Sri Rama Navami 2026 falls on April 6th (Monday) this year, and yaar, most banks across India will remain closed for this major Hindu festival. State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Punjab National Bank have already confirmed the holiday, but honestly, your UPI payments and net banking will work normally throughout the day.

Which Banks Will Be Closed on Rama Navami 2026

Almost all major banks including Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Canara Bank will observe the holiday on April 6th. ATM services will function normally though, so cash withdrawal won’t be a problem yaar.

Private banks like Yes Bank and IndusInd Bank have also announced closure. Matlab, if you need to visit the branch for any work, better plan it for April 5th or April 7th.

Digital Banking Services Continue Normal Operations

The good news is that all digital services will work perfectly. PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and all UPI apps will function normally. Net banking, mobile banking apps, and credit card payments won’t face any interruption.

NEFT and RTGS services might have limited processing, but IMPS transfers will work 24/7 as usual. Honestly, most people won’t even notice the bank closure because digital payments have become so common now.

Major Rama Navami Celebrations Across Indian Cities

Ayodhya will be the epicenter of celebrations this year, with the newly inaugurated Ram Mandir expecting over 5 lakh devotees. The main aarti timings are scheduled for 6:30 AM and 7:00 PM on April 6th.

Mumbai’s famous Wadala Ram Mandir and Matunga’s Ram Mandir have planned special programs starting from 5:00 AM. In Delhi, the Laxminarayan Temple (Birla Mandir) will host continuous bhajan sessions from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

BSE and NSE will remain closed on April 6th for Rama Navami, so no equity trading for the day. Commodity markets including MCX will also observe the holiday.

Government offices, post offices, and most educational institutions will remain shut. However, essential services like hospitals, pharmacies, and emergency services will operate normally.
